hat is a dental bone graft?

A bone graft is a surgical procedure performed to augment jawbone when it’s insufficient. The success of a dental implant and its ability to support a new restoration largely depend on the amount of bone available at the site where the implant will be placed

There are many things that affect bone volume, including periodontal disease (gum disease), trauma, and infections, not to mention that it is not uncommon to open a site in the mouth to place an implant and discover that part of the critical or porous supporting bone is missing. However, there is always a solution

What does dental bone graft surgery involve??

We have excellent techniques available in modern dentistry to replace missing bone. In most cases, we can increase the height, volume, and width of the jawbone during the same appointment as implant placement

In this way, we will have a clear idea of when additional bone will be necessary before starting dental implant placement or extraction. Replacing missing bone or adding existing bone is sometimes essential for the success of a dental implant and subsequent restoration.

This can be done using synthetic bone grafts or even block bone grafts; that means taking natural bone from other areas of the mouth and placing it where needed

Finally, Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is a new approach to promote tissue regeneration in dental surgeries. PRP is derived from centrifuging the patient’s own blood and contains growth factors that influence wound healing and tissue repair.
