A dental splint is designed to protect the teeth and oral structures in various situations. It can be a relaxation splint for bruxism, an orthodontic splint during orthodontic treatments, or a sports guard for protection during physical activities. These splints are customized to fit the patient’s mouth and provide proper comfort and protection
It is a transparent acrylic plate that is placed on the upper arch. The purpose of the splint is to prevent the upper teeth from coming into contact with the lower ones and causing dental wear due to friction, normally at night. They especially help combat Bruxism.
It is recommended when Bruxism or teeth grinding appears. It is a disorder that can affect adults or children. However, this is an unconscious nocturnal movement in the muscles of the jaw. Thanks to the relaxation splint, we can help control this movement which helps us prevent wear on our teeth.
